Second Life is a 3-D virtual world with almost 10 million residents registered from around the globe. In 1989 Harold and Hilda Maxwell opened Annie's Costumes and Magic in South Florida. Seven years later, Shari, their daughter, designed and launched their first website, www.AnniesCostumes.com. By 1999, the mom and pop business expanded their website holdings, and Shari left the retail store to manage the Internet business full time. In 2003, their online Halloween costume shop was doing so well that Annie's Costumes was able to close their retail store front and move exclusively to the Internet.
